Step 1 Select a
partner.
Find a classmate with whom you will
work well with.
Review the “Partner” section in the
Evaluation page to better understand how you will be graded.
Use a binder or folder to keep all of your work
in.
Step 2 Brainstorm
Brainstorm about possible reasons southern
sea otters are in danger.
Why are animals placed on the endanger
species list? What do you already know about endangered species?
Checkout the Evaluation page to review
all of the requirements for this part of your assignment.
Step 3 Webquest
You and your partner are going to use
the World Wide Web to conduct research on the specific problems that the
southern sea otter face.
Visit all of the sites provided.
Use the your journal to collect data,
interesting facts, and other important information about Southern Sea
Otters.
Record at least three (3) important
pieces of information for each site.
Click on Evaluation to be sure you
have covered all necessary parts.
Step 4 Write a reaction
essay.
Use one of nine expository the
Graphic
Organizers to plan your writing.
Include data, interesting facts, and
other important information from your journal.
After finishing the Expository Essay
Graphic Organizer write a rough draft.
Ask at least one (1) other student to
review your draft. Click for Peer
Editing Checklist.
Complete your final draft.
Remember: you and your partner must
complete a separate essay.

Step 6 Make a poster.
Choose an important theme or idea from
your reaction essay. Example: Fishing nets and supplies must be used
very carefully.
Make a poster that depicts your idea.
Create a meaningful message that other students and adults will
understand. Use tag board or construction paper. Color neatly with
crayons or colored pencils.
Be prepared to display your poster in
our school.
